The Leadership and important prayer requests!

Meet the Leadership of the church in Carcavelos. From left to right:  Ricardo and Wasth - Dick and Sarah - Wilson and Elsa - and Robert and Derlani.

Robert sent some very important prayer requests for you to add to your prayer lists:

The prime-minister of Portugal has delivered his resignation because the parliament would not approve another change in the budget. However, José Socrates will remain in office until anticipated elections take place early in June. And he will probably run again for office. . .

The instability and the uncertainty of the social and political situation and the economy have affected the country as a whole, including the churches. While such difficult times usually make people more receptive to the Good News as they gradually lose hope in everything else, the churches here suffer from the lack of adequate finances. Unemployment tends to grow. Brazilian immigrants, among others, are giving up and returning to their countries.. . .

The church in Girona (Spain) had to leave the space they had been renting for the last couple of years because the Bank shut it down. Although the owner of the space received rent every month, he failed to pay the mortgage, unfortunately. The congregation is splitting the rent with another congregation now but going through this has been quite discouraging for those who had been attending up to this point. Despite the crisis in the economy and constant changes, the members had given time, energy and finances to bettering the rented space for the ministry and were excited about it. Please pray for the preacher Hernane and his wife Vera as they continue to reach out to the lost in what is probably the most secularized part of Spain.

Please continue to pray for the Leadership of the various churches in Portugal and Spain.  Remember the Missionaries and their families as well!  God is in control!
